Engagement Sessions
An engagement shoot is such a fun addition to your wedding photography experience!
The sessions can be formal or relaxed/casual (the majority go with the latter) and take place before the wedding, anytime from 1 year to 2 weeks before the big day.
Most couples I know tell me that they don’t have any good pictures of the two of them, or if they do, it’s a selfie! So, this is your chance!
I love pre-wedding shoots and recommend these for several reasons
1. It will help us get to know each other better!
2. You will get to know how I work and how it feels to get to be in front of the camera
3. You will have some lush images (even if you only use them to update your profile pic!
You can use the images not only in your home but also on your wedding stationary (save the dates, invites, thank you cards etc!) or as a photo guest book, I’ve seen this being used a few times!
During your engagement session, you will realise that being photographed is not as scary as you may think! Most couples don’t like having their photos taken but I aim to make everyone feel at ease in front of the camera. I’m known for bad jokes and constantly taking the mick out of myself!
The DetailsEngagement sessions are usually shot on a weekday around ‘golden hour’ which is around 1-2 hours before sunset. Those beautiful, light, airy, golden-lit pictures you’ve seen will be taken when the light is soft and warm! Unlike photos taken when the sun is right above, casting harsh shadows! Obviously I totally understand this isn’t always possible due to shift work or other work commitments, or if you have kids etc but I advise the golden hour where at all possible, for the best results! :)

LocationThe location is your choice, but we suggest you pick somewhere that has meaning for you both. The place where you first met; the beach; the proposal location (so long as it’s not overseas.. unless you want to buy me a plane ticket and accommodation.. if so, then I’m in!). Any of these locations can make fun, informal and intimate engagement photographs that help to tell the story of you both. Think about the vibe you want to create. What’s you?

What To Wear?
Try and colour co-ordinate your outfits in terms of wearing colours that compliment eachother. For example whites and denims work well together, or choosing an outfit from the same colour palette. You can find good Inspo on Pinterest! One final point, I get asked the same question a lot… YES, PLEASE BRING YOUR DOG, you have no objections from me! <3 |
